TERM 2 HOMESCHOOL PROGRAMME 2017

We are very happy to announce our Home School Education Programme for 2017. Our programme is open to all students 12 years or older. Early registration is essential due to limited seats.

GAME DEVELOPMENT
Wednesdays 10am-Noon

Maximum 8 Students

Our home school game development programme meets once a week for 10 weeks with a culminating 2D game made at the end of the programme. Our classes are taught by Mike Porter who has 20 years of experience in game development with a variety of platforms and genres under his belt. He will be able to guide students to an achievable project in the 10-week period.

Each week builds upon the knowledge of the previous week with home studies assigned to ensure the students build their skills. The students will learn about game design, sound, level design, creative problem solving, understanding programming fundamentals, and the art required to pull the game together. The sessions are 1.5 hours each Wednesday and will run the entirety of Term 2.

$200 for the term. Students can register at any time for a prorated cost $20 per session.

PROP BUILDING
Thursdays 10am-Noon

Maximum 16 Students

Our home school props building programme meets once a week for 10 weeks with a variety of projects to ensure the students have a broad understanding of prop building for film, television or commericals. Our classes are taught by Chester Dexter, Simon Hamid and Mike Porter, each of whom have over 20 years of experience in their respective fields.

Each week the students will also learn basics of prop building with a focus on working with a variety of materials to create safe but realistic weapons, armour. Students will also work with electronics for things including things like LED lights, animatronics, and smoke emitters to enhance their props. We will also cover casting, sculpting, and foam fabrication. The sessions are 2 hours each Thursday and will run the entirety of Term 2.

$300 for the term, supplies included. Students can register at any time for a prorated cost $30 per session

SPECIAL EFFECTS MAKEUP
Fridays 10am-Noon

Maximum 16 Students

Our home school SPFX make up programme meets once a week for 10 weeks with a variety of projects to ensure the students have a broad understanding of makeup for film, television or commericals. Our classes are taught by Chester Dexter. Chester started his career at Weta Workshop, and with work on television shows such as X-Files, Hercules, and movie and commercial work as well, he brings over 20 years of knowledge to the students.

Each week students will learn about creating prosthetics, using makeup for creating bruises, burns, and old age effects, and other fabrication techniques. There will be some additional expense for consumables, but those will be listed at a week prior to the class using those items. The sessions are 2 hours each Friday and will run the entirety of Term 2.
